We are delighted to be celebrating World Book Day in Barnane N.S. on Thursday 4th March 2021. Over the last 24 years, World Book Day has become firmly established as Ireland’s biggest annual event promoting the enjoyment of books and reading. The main aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading.
We celebrated World Book Day in many ways! Our Junior Infants to Second Class dressed up as their favourite book characters and designed a book cover. Third and Fourth class were challenged to create a potato book character and recreate some real life book covers.
We read many stories, shared our favourite books with our friends and chatted about the authors we like most. Phew! A busy day!
As the saying goes ,”A book is a gift you can open again and again” and we agree wholeheartedly. We cannot wait to start reading all the wonderful books our children recommended today.
“Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.”
